PUBLIC NOTICE: PROVENCAL-ROBELINE ROAD BRIDGE CLOSING

Natchitoches Parish President Rick Nowlin announces that the Provencal-Robeline Road Bridge over Coal Kiln Creek, located approximately three miles west of Provencal, is closed to traffic and will remain closed indefinitely.

According to Parish Public Works Director Nick Verret, P.E., the bridge closure was the result of deficiencies that were found by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development during their inspection of this bridge.

This bridge is in the process of being added to the Federal Off-System Bridge Replacement Program, but it is estimated that it could take as long as two years or more before the bridge can be replaced. However, over the next few days, Parish officials will consider various alternatives for making temporary repairs that will allow the bridge to be re-opened to traffic, but, at this time, there is no estimated time frame for completing these repairs.

During the period of closure, traffic should detour around this site via State Routes LA-117, LA-6, and LA-120.

Questions relative to the bridge closure may be directed to Mr. Nick Verret, Director of Public Works, at (318) 357-2200.

PUBLIC NOTICE: ALLEN-MARTHAVILLE ROAD BRIDGE CLOSING

Natchitoches Parish President Rick Nowlin has announced that the Allen-Marthaville Road Bridge over Mayou's Bayou, located approximately one-fourth mile north of State Route LA-120, was closed to traffic and will remain closed indefinitely.

According to Parish Public Works Director Nick Verret, P.E., the bridge closure was the result of deficiencies that were found by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development during their inspection of this bridge. This bridge, which was previously posted for a 5-ton load limit by the former Police Jury due to its structural condition, was in the process of being added to the Federal Off-System Bridge Replacement Program, but it is estimated that it could take as long as two years or more before construction can begin.

Over the next few days, Parish officials will consider various alternatives for re-opening the bridge on at least a temporary basis, but, at this time, there is no estimated time frame for doing so.

During the period of closure, traffic should detour around this site via State Routes LA-120 and LA-487, and Parish Road No. 599, the Crossroads Church Road.

Questions relative to the bridge closure may be directed to Mr. Nick Verret, Director of Public Works, at (318) 357-2200.
